Chocolate Heaven.

My friend Jess made this amazing dessert for one of her parties and then I begged for the recipe. My parents are having people over for dinner tonight and my mom wanted to make the chocolate trifle for dessert. Since she already had me make the brownies I wanted to do the rest just so I could say I made it.
Here is what you need:
1 Package of brownie mix
1 Package instant chocolate pudding mix
1/2 Cup of water
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 Eight ounce container of whipped topping
1 Twelve once container of whipped topping
(both the frozen package, but thaw first)
Chocolate bar

So yesterday I made the brownies by following the boxes instructions, then I cut them into little 1 inch squares. In a mixing bowl combine pudding mix, water, and sweetened condensed milk, mix until smooth. Next fold in your eight ounces of whipped topping. Then I let that set in the refrigerator over night and finished this morning. I used a trifle bowl and placed half the brownies, half the pudding mixture, and half of the 12 ounce whipped cream. Repeat layers. Then I shaved a chocolate bar over the top layer for garnish. Refrigerate for 8 hours before you serve. Finally, enjoy and try not to eat the whole thing!

Calvin & Hobbes.

The top.

I have always been a fan of Calvin & Hobbes my Dad has a bunch of the comics, and when I was little me and my sister used to read them. I still read them, I mean whoever doesn't think Calvin is the funniest kid clearly has no sense of humor. So this project started because I needed a dresser since for some unknown reason I let my dad put mine in the guest room and then was left with six drawers worth of clothes and no place to put them. I found a dresser I wanted at Good Will but my mom said it wasn't worth it. Fortunately for me my parents found a dresser on the side of the road. Just another way that shows God cares about the little things you want too. I got right to work and sanded it down. My original plan was to cover with fabric using modpodge but half way through I decided I really didn't like it. So then my new plan was created I was going to cover it with Calvin & Hobbes comics.

The side.

The Front.

First I stripped off the fabric which was not easy... Then I spray painted the whole thing black and got started. I cut out individual comics strips and used paper mod podge to apply  them to the wood. After I got everything the way I wanted it, my dad put a varnish over the whole thing to give it an even finish. Cutting out all the comics was pretty time consuming but totally worth it. Especially the top which I used B&W comics for the back ground and then pieced colored comics over top.

Gryffindor.

I recently learned how to crochet and I made this scarf for my sister as a Christmas gift. This yarn I found at Jo-Ann fabrics was the perfect thing because it is the house colors of Gryffindor in Harry Potter. I Chained 20 and then did a double crochet for the whole thing.

Ornaments.

Finished Product
For Christmas I wanted to make my sister something special so I got the idea to make ornaments. I made two, I used plastic ornaments from Jo-Ann Fabrics for both of them. These ones are especially nice because the top comes off, allowing me to put stuff inside. Which is exactly what I did. For the first one I cut her wedding invitation into strips then curled each piece by wrapping it around a pen. I finished it off with a ribbon, also from their invitations.

Curled Paper

The second ornament I filled with dried flowers from my bouquet because hers didn't get saved. On the front I wrote their wedding date with a black sharpie. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of this before giving it to them.

Tie Dye crazy.

Over the summer I became obsessed with tie-dye. I just love the look. This is going to be a rather short post because all I did was follow the instructions the kit came with. I got my kit from walmart and I found that if i just put the caps back on it will save for months. Which is good because I didn't use all of mine up. Although I used different styles for each piece my favorite is the pillow on the left it just turned out so pretty!
My sheets all dyed!
Unfortunately, all of my projects lately have been Christmas related. So just expect tons of crafts after the holidays. (yes I know Christmas is like 2 months away)

Lumos. Nox.

Finished although the picture quality sucks.
So I won't pretend I am not a huge harry potter junkie. So of course I love any Harry Potter craft, for this one I painted my light switch cover.

You will need:
*Paint: Black and white
*Sharpie: Silver and black
*Sandpaper
*Light switch cover
*Glitter (optional)

I started by sanding my light switch cover because I knew it would be too glossy for the paint to stick. Then I used black acrylic paint to paint half the switch. I used a post it to keep my line straight (I was lacking painters tape) and then after that side dried I painted to other half in a shimmery white paint. After both sides had dried I  wrote Lumos on one end and Nox on the other. Being the glitter lover I am I decided this project needed a final touch of sparkle.

In the works.
